Steve Perry Denies Journey Reunion Rumors, Focusing on New Creative Projects
30 October 2026
Renewed speculation about a reunion of Journey with lead vocalist Steve Perry has been quashed by the legendary rocker himself. In an official statement released on February 20, 2026, Perry definitively put an end to rumors that he would be rejoining the band for their farewell tour.
Perry's statement, posted on his official website, came in response to comments made by Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain. Cain, in a recent interview, revealed that Perry had been approached about possibly joining the band's scheduled 100-show farewell tour, and that Perry was "thinking about it."
"Unfortunately, the rumors are not true - there is no chance of a reunion at this time. It's been wonderful to see the excitement around Journey and their farewell tour, but I'm deeply devoted to my creative projects right now," Perry wrote. "I'm continuing to explore new music that reflects where I am today."

The news has disappointed many fans of the iconic rock band who had hoped for a reunion with Perry. Cain's comments in mid-February about an upcoming 'final frontier' tour, set to begin February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania and concluding in Laredo, Texas on July 2, had fueled rumors.
Perry last performed with Journey in 1998 before making his final departure from the band. "It's been wonderful to see the excitement around Journey and their farewell tour. But I'm deeply devoted to my new creative projects right now," Perry said in his statement.
