Steve Perry Denies Rumors of Journey Reunion on Farewell Tour
05 November 2026
Steve Perry has definitively denied rumours that he will rejoin Journey for the band's Final Frontier farewell tour.
"The rumors about me rejoining the band are simply not true, and I want to gently put them to rest," Perry said in a statement on February 20, 2026. He added that he is "continuing to explore new creative work and making music that reflects where I am today."
The speculation about a possible reunion gained traction after Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain suggested that guitarist Neal Schon had reached out to Perry about joining the tour as a guest. However, Perry has made it clear that a reunion would be not in the cards.
Journey announced its Final Frontier tour in January 2026, billed as a farewell North American run. The tour, which kicked off on February 28, 2026 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, initially encompassed 60 performances. It was later expanded by 40 additional concerts. The tour's final show was initially scheduled for November 28, 2026 in San Francisco.

This is not Perry's first reunion with Journey since leaving in 1987. He joined the band for their 2017 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but did not perform with the group. Journey has been fronted by Arnel Pineda since 2007.
While Perry has ruled out rejoining for the Final Frontier tour, the band's farewell plans may not be as definitive as first thought. Though the band initially billed the run as their final run, a November 2026 report from Rolling Stone suggested that the tour "isn't the end" after all. Later coverage from outlets like Cleveland.com and Syracuse.com echoed that Journey's plans may have changed, though a definitive announcement has yet to come.
Beyond acknowledging his involvement was not happening, Perry has cited his musical growth over the intervening years, implying he is stretching into new creative territory. As Journey fans process Perry's absence from their tour, they prepare to reflect on exactly what the "end" means for the 45-year-old band, and whether the Final Frontier is indeed the final bow.
